One reason why time passes by faster as you age

There are several reasons why time seems to go by faster as we age.

No one remembers being born. Most people clearly remember the first day of school. Generally, first memories for adults lie in the 3 year old range. Children enter pre-school around age 4-5 and primary school around age 5-6. For the next 12 years, “a year” is a school year, or nine months. The first day of January of each year falls within the school year. The school year ends in June.

The nine month year continues for those in college and therefore might last as long as 17 years.

While in school, the student is aware the year actually begins on the first day of January. The perspective of a year, however, is only nine months, not twelve. Time, therefore, moves differently as well. This can be expressed through mathematics.

Thirty years is 360 months. (30 x 12 = 360). If using a nine month year, 360 months is 40 years. (360/9 = 40). Now, how long is 40 years relative to the perspective of a 5 year old? A ten year old?

Do the math.
